WHAT I DO
Although the word ‘design’ has been somewhat abused over the last few years, I firmly believe that it is one of the most important factors in the success of a business. Get in touch to to find out how I can help.
Graphic design isn’t, as many believe, just about the way something looks. It is in fact a delicate balance between form and function. Many graphic designers create very stylised work that looks very similar regardless of product or market. I try to see every project as a unique problem with a unique solution.
Wally Olins, a leading authority on branding, defines it as an organisation’s ‘personality’. If you want to compete in the marketplace, you really need a consistent image which will not only be identifiable by your clients, it should also project how you want your business to be perceived.
The work in this section is pretty self-evident. I use these techniques on almost all my work using Adobe Photoshop. Retouching, photomontage and colour correction. I also take photos for personal satisfaction, mainly abstract and travel. A few of them can be seen on Instagram – #johnamydesign
Designing print books gives me great satisfaction. The idea of a copy lingering in a bookcase for many years. Ebooks sales have rocketed 17% during the pandemic. Designed in a completely different way to print books and over the years I have got to grips with the best way to achieve a good result.
